Title: Rural Volunteer EMS: Reports from the Field Findings Brief (September 2010)
Abstract: This findings brief provides information from a report that examined prehospital emergency care services (EMS) used by rural residents for treatment and transport in the event of injuries or other health emergencies. It interviewed directors from all-volunteer rural services in 23 states, using a semi-structured interview format to encourage them to speculate on the future viability of their local service, describe the challenges they face, and the resources they need to ensure continuance. The brief includes a link to the final report.
